My first keeper bass from the river bank - nice. Got to share the experience with my brother.
And to think that it didn't look like we were gonna get much time in today but the predicted
thunderstorms never came. Tough conditions, nonetheless, with all that wind. My brother brought
five more stripers onto the river bank today to add to his season-high total.
Who would have thought that I would finally catch my first keeper from the river on the last week of
July. In the spring, the water was a better temperature for stripers and the overall size of the
fish were much larger. As the summer has progressed, the size of the stripers have become smaller,
which is typical. How I pulled out a keeper here today I'll never know, but that is the
beauty of fishing. You never know when, how big, or what will strike at any given time.
